Iran‘s armed forces have shot down an unmanned US spy plane that violated Iranian airspace along its eastern border.

An unidentified military official quoted by the official Irna news agency on Sunday warned of a crushing response to any violations of Iranian airspace by US drone aircraft.

“An advanced RQ170 unmanned American spy plane was shot down by Iran’s armed forces. It suffered minor damage and is now in possession of Iran’s armed forces,” Irna quoted the official as saying.

No further details were given.

Iran is locked in a dispute with the US and its allies over Tehran’s alleged nuclear programme, which the west believes is aimed at developing nuclear weapons. Iran denies the accusations, saying the programme is designed to generate electricity and produce isotopes for medical use.

Tehran said in January it had shot down two other unmanned spy planes over its airspace which were operated by the US.

Iran itself has focused part of its military strategy on producing drones, both for reconnaissance and offensive purposes.

It announced three years ago that it had built an unmanned aircraft with a range of more than 600 miles, far enough to reach Israel.

The Iranian president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, unveiled Iran’s first domestically built unmanned bomber in August 2010, calling it an “ambassador of death” to Iran’s enemies.

NBA will be back in time for Christmas!

November 29, 2011 in Sports

Well as long as no one messes anything up in the next month. You know what that means? Snow Lion’s NBA thread shall be back. I know, contain yourselves!

If the new collective bargaining agreement is ratified as expected, the NBA has targeted Dec. 25 as opening day. The league has determined the 66-game schedule will be structured with 48 conference games and 18 nonconference games.
The NBA announced three games originally scheduled for Christmas Day will be retained — Celtics at Knicks; Heat at Mavericks; Bulls at Lakers — but did not specify if more Christmas games potentially would be added.
The league’s goal is to start training camps on Dec. 9, which also will begin the free agency process and would be the first day to sign players such as rookies in the 2011 NBA Draft.

How is this clown still Pakistan’s Prime Minister?

November 27, 2011 in Politics

I am not a political analyst, but some things just strike me as very odd:

1) This guy’s nickname is “Mr. 10 percent” because he is so corrupt and likes to take a piece on all action.

2) Nobody likes this guy.

3) He is a proven criminal.
Why is this guy still Pakistan’s Prime Minister? I wouldn’t let this guy be my personal banker. I wouldn’t want to buy something from him in a store. As a Pakistani I am ashamed that we have this guy as our leader. At this point I don’t care who the next PM is. Nawaz Sharif, Imran Khan, whoever…ANYONE is better than this clown.

Does Priyanka Chopra actually have some piggy chops?

November 26, 2011 in Desi Music

I’m sure you’ve all heard that Priyanka Chopra signed a deal with Universal Music Group and Desi Hits to record an album this year. I dunno about you but I am pretty tired of these overproduced highly autotuned songs coming out and rotting my ear drums. (Not that I am saying that this is going to be the case with P.Chops…okay, maybe I am.) ANYWAYS, I did some youtube detectiving (yes, I make up my own words) and think that my prediction shall hold true.

Don’t get me wrong, I love P.Chops in the movies but my ears are not looking forward to this:

NATO bombs Pakistani soldiers, Pakistan tells US to vacate airbase.

November 26, 2011 in Politics

November 26, 2011; 4:45 PM CST

US & Pakistan’s relations have now gone from bad to worse after a NATO bombing killed at least 24 Pakistani soldiers.

Pakistan’s government has asked the US to vacate Shamsi Air Base, the site allegedly used by the U.S to launch drone attacks against terrorists in the region. Pakistan has also shut down NATO supply lines to Afghanistan. The rhetoric coming out of Pakistan indicates rising escalation, and while NATO and US rhetoric appears to be apologetic and since, the question is…is it too little too late?

Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani returned from vacation early to meet with the senior leaders of Pakistan (picture below).
